I’m engaged

April 14, 2008

I’m engaged.  To an amazing girl.

How great is that?

This article literally makes me sick. Hey, the countries supposedly heading into a recession. No problem for some 300,000 + federal employees:

Federal employees charged millions of dollars for Internet dating, tailor-made suits, lingerie, lavish dinners and other questionable expenses to their government credit cards over a 15-month period, congressional auditors say.

A report by the Government Accountability Office, obtained Tuesday by The Associated Press, examined spending controls across the federal government following reports of credit-card abuse at departments including Defense, Homeland Security and Veterans Affairs.

The review of card spending at more than a dozen departments from 2005 to 2006 found that nearly 41 percent of roughly $14 billion in credit-card purchases, whether legitimate or questionable, did not follow procedure — either because they were not properly authorized or they had not been signed for by an independent third party as called for in federal rules to deter fraud.

Whether you are a Republican, Democrat, Independent, Green Party member…whatever. This is unacceptable. What’s sad is nothing will probably happen, and things will continue like normal. Where is the accountability? Why can’t the government be more transparent?

So voting on a stimulus package and debating on what to do with our money turned out to be a huge problem, yet they have no problem using our money to pay for their lives. Next time federal agencies complain about budget cuts, just remember we provide them with a budget. They work for us, not vice versa. Apparently there’s no money for teachers and public education, yet federal employees can buy newly tailored suits and dates online.

Jesus needs to come back.

An Amazing Story

March 6, 2008

I spent my morning reading about the infamous “Son of Sam” killings that took place in New York in the 1970s.  I, of course, was not alive during this time, but maybe you were.  The culprit, David Berkowitz, was captured in the late 70s and sentenced to over 365 years in prison.  This man had ties to Satanic cults and other evil forces, many of which he claimed drove him to commit the crimes.  This man committed violent, heinous acts against innocent civilians.  Yet, in the midst of his despair, David found Christ in prison.  I came upon his website, forgivenforlife.com, and was floored.  David has begun work in the prison’s Special Needs Unit where he prays with troubled inmates, and reads the bible to them.  I find it fascinating the David has frequently rejected his parole hearings.  He claims to have come to terms with his actions, has asked Jesus for forgiveness, and is openly accepting his punishment.

This just proves that Jesus can, and will, forgive anyone who will receive him.  Murderers, rapists, thieves, liars…everyone.  Only through Jesus could David find redemption and salvation.  I am glad that David is still alive to tell his story.  Yes, he should be punished for his crimes, let us never downplay that.  But David realizes that the time he has left on earth should be to point people towards Christ, and that is amazing.

Here are the closing comments of his personal testimony:

“Please consider what I am saying. I beg you with all my heart to place your faith in Christ right now. Tomorrow is promised to no one.

You see, I am not sharing this message to simply tell you an interesting story. Rather I want you to taste the goodness of God in my life, a man who was once a devil worshipper and a murderer, to show you that Jesus Christ is about forgiveness, hope and change.

I was involved in the occult and I got burned. I became a cruel killer and threw away my life as well as destroyed the lives of others. Now I have discovered that Christ is my answer and my hope. He broke the chains of mental confusion and depression that had me bound. Today I have placed my life in His hands. I only wish I knew Jesus before all these crimes happened - they would not have happened.

May God bless everyone who is reading this message!”

If you have the time, you should read about the Son of Sam

Here’s David’s website as well.

Hate to say I told you so…

February 27, 2008

But…I told you so. The media went nuts, savior musicians and entertainers put on shows and told us how to live our lives, and Al Gore won an Oscar and the Nobel Prize.

I’m sticking with the story I’ve stuck to this entire time. The earth goes in cycles. Apparently, there’s new scientific data proving “global warming” is over, and the earth is now on a cooling trend. Below is the article copied from dailytech.com

Twelve-month long drop in world temperatures wipes out a century of warming

Over the past year, anecdotal evidence for a cooling planet has exploded. China has its coldest winter in 100 years. Baghdad sees its first snow in all recorded history. North America has the most snowcover in 50 years, with places like Wisconsin the highest since record-keeping began. Record levels of Antarctic sea ice, record cold in Minnesota, Texas, Florida, Mexico, Australia, Iran, Greece, South Africa, Greenland, Argentina, Chile — the list goes on and on.

No more than anecdotal evidence, to be sure. But now, that evidence has been supplanted by hard scientific fact. All four major global temperature tracking outlets (Hadley, NASA’s GISS, UAH, RSS) have released updated data. All show that over the past year, global temperatures have dropped precipitously.

A compiled list of all the sources can be seen here. The total amount of cooling ranges from 0.65C up to 0.75C — a value large enough to wipe out nearly all the warming recorded over the past 100 years. All in one year’s time. For all four sources, it’s the single fastest temperature change ever recorded, either up or down.

Scientists quoted in a past DailyTech article link the cooling to reduced solar activity which they claim is a much larger driver of climate change than man-made greenhouse gases. The dramatic cooling seen in just 12 months time seems to bear that out. While the data doesn’t itself disprove that carbon dioxide is acting to warm the planet, it does demonstrate clearly that more powerful factors are now cooling it.

Let’s hope those factors stop fast. Cold is more damaging than heat. The mean temperature of the planet is about 54 degrees. Humans — and most of the crops and animals we depend on — prefer a temperature closer to 70.
Historically, the warm periods such as the Medieval Climate Optimum were beneficial for civilization. Corresponding cooling events such as the Little Ice Age, though, were uniformly bad news.

Once again, people (mainly the media and liberals) going crazy over something that doesn’t fully exist (remember the Y2K hype? This reminds me a lot of that.) Now, does this mean we pollute even more now, or neglect the environment? Not at all. However, when we place the environment (this goes for all creation, even animals) over human life, then we have lost track. Its when we start worshiping creation, and not the creator, that we lose focus. God gave us the earth, His creation, and it was good. But God also gave us people, whose souls we should be more concerned for. Let’s point them in the direction of the everlasting, rather than the temporary.

This is blues, folks.

Came across this clip on youtube. Features some of the most innovative rock artists of all time: John Lennon, Eric Clapton, and Keith Richards. Now, I don’t care too much for Keith Richards, but seeing these guys perform ‘Yer Blues’ is really something (it’s one of the best tracks off the White Album, for you non-Beatle fans) It’s fun to watch, enjoy:

I got a Martin!!!!!!!!!!

February 5, 2008

My dreams have finally come true. Today, I purchased a Martin HD-28, quite arguably the best acoustic guitar out there (Taylor? Please, those are crap.)

Here’s what she looks like

Isn’t she beautiful? Now all I need to do is give her a name. Any suggestions?

Turkish Star Wars

February 4, 2008

I’ve come across another hidden gem from the land of Turkey.  This movie, called Turkish Star Wars (or “The Man Who Saved The World” in Turkey) stole clips from Star Wars, and music from Indiana Jones, Planet of the Apes, and more.  It makes me feel extremely weird just watching this clip.  The fact that this movie was a hit in Turkey also makes me cry for all mankind.

So here it is, Turkish Star Wars:

Best Stunt Scene Ever

Don’t let the words on the screen fool you, this is the best stunt scene of all time.

I don’ t know how I came across that on youtube, but I am really glad I did.
