OMG

September 23, 2007

Last week, I was finally able to locate Ben and Jerry’s Stephen Colbert’s Americone Dream.  I called four-five Save Marts around Fresno, and none claimed to carry it.  However, I lucked out at Whole Foods.  All I can say is:  OMG.  It is currently my favorite ice cream (nothing can ever beat good ol’ fashioned cookies and cream.)  As many fans of the ice cream have stated, it really does taste like sweet liberty in your mouth.  If you live in the Fresno area, I know there are two locations that carry it:

1.  Whole Foods - they were really nice, and they even held a carton of it for me until I got off work!

2.  Save Mart (Willow and Alluvial) Lucky for me, I purchased the last two they had yesterday, oops.

Americone Dream

Go get some asap, its wonderful.

Top 5 Best and Worst Waters

September 9, 2007

I am extremely picky about my water. I have no problem identifying myself as a “water-snob.” Seeing as how I drink about 3-4 bottles per day, these are the conclusions that I have come to determining the best and worst water on the market today.

The Best:

5. American Falls

Unfortunately, I could not find a picture of this water online. However, my testimony should draw you in. I just discovered this water last week at Winco. I knew it was a gamble, 24 waters that could potentially be terrible. But I was wrong…very wrong. This water completely blew me away, its purity, smooth taste, and humble packaging. Highly recommended for the water aficionado.

4. Aquafina

This would be higher, but this water is not what it used to be. I see a lot of water’s lately changing their labels, packaging, even their lids. Its like once they changed the outside, they changed the actual product as well. I can taste a distinct difference between Aquafina with the square-shaped lid and the ones with the round-shaped lid. Think I’m crazy? Give it a try.

3. Yosemite Waters

I remember having this thing by the gallon during high school. My house was blessed with a water cooler, which I frequently took advantage of. Sadly, we only had the cooler for a few months, but it was some of the happiest months of my life. This water actually drew me into appreciation for good, quality, purified water. Thank you Yosemite for introducing me to standards.

2. Dasani

Cliche? Maybe, but you can’t argue with results. This bottle has also gone through several “image” changes, but the product has remained the same. Dasani has never failed to impress me. It always delivers with the freshest, cleanest, smoothest water. I’d sometime even prefer this over a good wine.

1. Smart Water

This was really a tossup. I struggled for months trying to decide which would take the number one spot: Dasani, or Smart water? After much though, I have to give the edge to Smart Water. The main reason being you can buy a 1 liter bottle for only $1 at Vons, which means more of the best water on the planet for a very small price. Smart Water claims to have electrolites…whatever, all I know is it is the best tasting water at an amazing price. If you haven’t tried Smart Water yet, run out to your local Piggly Wiggly and buy it by the truckload. Bravo, bravo.

*Honorable Mention - Kirkland Signature Water.

Now, the Worst:

5. Fiji

This water is often picked as the best water out there by critics in various magazines and publications. But it is awful. I tried it a few months ago, wanting to see what all the hype was about. That was money wasted. It has a chlorine-esque aftertaste that just does not still well in my stomach. While the bottle may be cool, the water is flat out bad.

4. Crystal Geyser (Red label border)

Now you’re going to start thinking I am really crazy. Crystal Geyser used to be good, but like several other bottled waters, they reformatted their packaging, which somehow meant a change in its flavor. Please stay as far away as possible as the Crystal Geyser water with the red borders on its label, because it tastes like my number one answer in this category.

3. Evian

Very bad, enough sad.

2. Tap Water

I don’t know if there is anything worse than drinking tap water. Especially for us living in the valley, the water is absolutely dreadful. Its sad enough I have to bathe in it, I would never dream of drinking it. People have said that its really weird how I am able to taste all these differences in all of these waters, but how can you not?! I know there are more people out there just like me when it comes to water. There are dozens of us, dozens!

And the worst water determined by me…

1. Arrowhead.

This one takes the cake by a long shot. There is no water that comes anywhere near as bad as Arrowhead. What is the recipe for Arrowhead, anything but water? It is not only the worst tasting water I’ve ever tried, but it is one of the worst things I’ve tried overall. Steer far away from Arrowhead, cause it will eventually kill you.

Thats my list. I hope some of you let me know your water preferences. Shalom.
